Beijing, January 6th (Reporter Wang Zheng) - The "14th Five Year Plan for the Development of the Robot Industry" (hereinafter referred to as the "Plan") drafted by 15 departments including the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has recently been issued. The Plan proposes to become a global hub for robot technology innovation, a high-end manufacturing cluster, and a new highland for integrated applications by 2025. The annual growth rate of the robot industry's operating income will exceed 20%, and the density of manufacturing robots will double.

China has been the world's largest consumer of industrial robots for eight consecutive years. In 2020, the density of manufacturing robots reached 246 units per 10000 people, nearly twice the global average, "said Wang Weiming, Director of the Equipment Industry Department of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. During the 13th Five Year Plan period, China's robot industry achieved breakthroughs in scale, technology, and products. In terms of scale, the operating revenue of the robotics industry exceeded 100 billion yuan for the first time in 2020; During the 13th Five Year Plan period, the compound annual growth rate is about 15%, with industrial robot production increasing from 72000 sets to 212000 sets, an average annual growth rate of 31%. From a technical and product perspective, key technologies and components such as precision reducers, high-performance servo drive systems, intelligent controllers, and intelligent integrated joints are accelerating breakthroughs, and innovative achievements are constantly emerging. The overall performance of the machine is greatly improved, the functions are becoming more diverse, and the product quality is increasingly optimized.

During the 13th Five Year Plan period, the level of robot application in China has significantly improved. The application fields of industrial robots have covered 52 major categories and 143 sub categories in industries such as automobiles, electronics, metallurgy, light industry, petrochemicals, and pharmaceuticals. Service robots and special robots have achieved large-scale applications in warehousing and logistics, education and entertainment, cleaning services, security inspections, medical rehabilitation, and other fields. The robot industry in our country has basically formed a full industry chain system from components to complete machines and then to integrated applications. The innovation of core technologies and key components is advancing in an orderly manner, and the research and development and mass manufacturing capabilities of complete machines are continuously enhancing. The adaptability and collaborative development capabilities of the industry chain are continuously improving, "said Wang Weiming.

In response to the problems of insufficient technological accumulation, weak industrial foundation, and lack of high-end supply in China's robotics industry, the "Plan" proposes five tasks, including improving industrial innovation capability, consolidating industrial development foundation, increasing high-end product supply, expanding application depth and breadth, optimizing industrial organizational structure, as well as actions such as the "Robot Key Foundation Enhancement Action", "Robot Innovation Product Development Action", and "Robot+" Application Action.
